Roll-A-Sign™ FAQ

What is a repeat?

Basically, a repeat is the continuous print of one imprint to another with a specified distance between them.

Can Roll-A-Sign™ be printed on different colored banner material?

Yes. We stock white and yellow banner material. However, some PMS colors printed on yellow material may affect the actual color output when printed.

Who owns the plates once they are made?

Whoever pays for the actual plate invoice owns the plates after they are made.

What do you do with the plates after my job has been printed?

Reef Industries will store the plates for our customers in an acceptable climate and suitable packaging to prolong the life of the plates for as long as possible. We take full accountability for our customers’ plates that are in our ownership.

How do I specify the colors in my logo?

Colors provided to Reef Industries are matched using the Pantone Matching System (PMS). We can match most PMS colors within a shade, but for best results please provide us with the preferred Pantone color.

What size plastic roll banners do you print?

We print plastic roll banners on 12", 24", 30", 36" Poly and can customize anywhere between. We offer many repeat lengths, ranging from 24" up to a 72" maximum.

Yes, we offer perforated banners as well as non-perforated banners.

How many spot colors can you print?

We can print up to 4 spot colors, not including the material color.

How should art files be supplied?

We prefer spot color vector files in Adobe Illustrator CS5 & earlier versions. All text should be converted to paths or outlines. Vector files generated in other applications should be exported as .EPS files. Artwork provided in other formats may require a nominal artwork fee. The largest file we can accept through email is 25MB.

How are Roll-A-Sign™ banners printed?

Roll-A-Sign banners are printed using Flexographic printing process, which is a press printing process similar to the old-style newspaper press printing. To be more specific, it’s like printing with a big rubber stamp. The ink is applied to the raised surfaces of a polypropylene printing plate and pressed onto the surface of the plate to produce the image to the material. Shifting can occur on registration up to approximately 1/8 of an inch.

However, Flexographic printing does not allow for a continuous print. Because the way plates mount on the cylinder, a gap must be present between the end of one print and the beginning of the next when printing a background color. This is commonly called the "break" or "gap." The way to create a continuous print effect between roll banners is by using what is called a "bump plate." This plate will allow for the break or gap fill on the rolls by using a solid color BUMP plate that is wider than the actual break between images.

How long does the process take to produce Roll-A-Sign™?

On new orders, the standard lead time for production is approximately 2 – 2 1/2 weeks. Many times signs can be finished faster for those important event deadlines. Call for details.
